it convicted my heart...

Col 4:6
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

"in our Lord Jesus Christ, there was:
meekness without weakness;
tenderness without feebleness;
firmness without courseness;
love without sentimentality;
holiness without self-righteouness;
lowliness without lowness;
truth without error;
enthusiasm without fanaticism;
passion without prejudice;
carefreeness without carelessness;
service without servility;
confidence without egoism;
judgement without harshness;
seriousness without gloominess;
mercy without softness."

As i read this in one of my lessons in SOT, i really felt that the words are so true. Even all of us may fail in our weaknesses and sins, and we are not perfect people, but we shouldn't compromise any of these. Because by the grace of Jesus, we can do it. Our attitude and heart towards God, people and everything we go through in life are so important, that it will determine how much we can give and receive, eventually our walk with God and future. So let us watch out in all these areas that we will not fall.

Matthew 12:32
"... For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."

i post this for a reason... read esp the highlighted ones...

Quote from: http://anonymousdiscipleship.blogspot.com/2008/01/pride.html

Many of us have been taught that pride is the worst sin. This may or may not be true. All I know is that sin is sin and all of us have an opinion of which sin is worse. I hold no opinion on this matter. But I will tell you my opinion on pride.

I believe that like a lot of things in this life, there is a good side and a bad side. I believe pride is one of those things. If we use pride in a healthy way it can be quite constructive and lead to high ethics and strong values. If abused, it can lead to destructive behaviours. Let me try to explain my meaning.

Every parent takes pride in their chidren, especially when they do well. Every teacher takes pride in their students, especially when they do well. We just need to be careful that we aren't severely disappointed when our children, or students, don't do well. That would be a selfish pride that sees one person better than another. There is nothing wrong with taking pride in someone or something because it helps recognize their accomplishments and gives them a greater self worth. On the other hand, if we communicate that they have no worth unless they always strive for excellence, then we will be disappointed because everyone makes mistakes. This leads to a lower self worth and a feeling that they cannot measure up to the standard expected of them. Do you see the subtle difference that a little too much pride can make?

The key here is to recognize that being proud is a human thing. It is valuable in giving us self worth which in turn, makes us strive to improve life for ourselves and others. But, if we leave out room for mistakes, it can lead to arrogance and an "I am better than you" attitude. This is the kind of pride that is sin. So, we must guard against this arrogance by tempering our pride with grace. We can be proud of ourselves, as long as it doesn't lead to thinking we are better than others. We can be proud of others as long as they know that they don't have to be perfect. This is a healthy pride that can contribute positively to any community of faith.

The problem is that most of us haven't been taught this but instead have been told that any pride is wrong. This has also led to a false humility being taught. You know the kind. This false humility says that we are worthless and that we will not amount to anything. So, we must submit to poverty and bow before God as beggars. Nothing could be further from the truth. Humility of this kind is a reflection of the worst kind of pride - religious pride. When people teach others that they must submit because they are worthless sinners, they are denying the grace of God. So, we must guard against this false humility as well. Christ loved all mankind enough to die for them, not to have them grovelling at his feet begging for mercy. Jesus wants us to come to him boldly with true humility, and maybe a healthy dose of pride as well.

Pride and humility, to me, are inextricably linked. Humility means to submit to someone else in recognition of their special status or authority. Pride means to think more highly of oneself and others than they actually deserve. So, I think that pride and humility tempered with grace is the way God intended humans to behave. He gives us pride to recognize our worth in his eyes, and he gives us humility to recognize that our worth is not something we deserve, but that we have been given a gift - grace.

The difference in sinful pride and righteous pride is this. Pride that honors oneself is wrong because it leads to being high minded. Pride bestowed upon others is called honor. The difference in false and true humility is this. Humbling oneself is submission. Being humbled by others is called being humiliated. So where does grace fit? Well, grace is the gift from God that enables us to distinguish between all that is false or true within our human experience. With God's help, the help of grace and righteousness, we will choose the right path in all things. In pride, we will guard against selfish promotion and choose rather to have honor bestowed upon us. In humility, we will humble ourselves for the good of others rather than have to be brought to humiliation.

So, I hope I have explained myself well concerning this topic. I look forward to any comments or rebuttals to my opinion. But, I will leave you with a scripture.

"He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor." - John 12:25

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

our performance day!

Today we had our 2nd cheerleading performance. I really think must give God all the praise and glory for it. I think we still didn't have enough practice and rehearsals for it. this morning and afternoon as we come together and practice, some parts were still messy.. and when we were having rehearsal at the actual place, the organisors actually gave us a lot of comments. but as we started our real performance, we gave all out... and thank God!! all stunts were up sucessfully, everything went smoothly, the audience cheered wehn we had our 2 2 1 up. cool!!! really praise God for that!! and our $100!! some $50 la...

after the performance,
today is really a nice day!! weeee~ usually saturday we will be in service.. it just feel weird that our saturday today wasn't spend in church.

= )
